I believe words matter. They can make you happy, sad, inspired, angry, and loved. Those little letters strung together in particular ways can touch our souls.
I wrote my first story in sixth grade. It was about a family of four heading out on a Gold Rush wagon trail. The father and daughter died on page one. By the end of the story - page four - the mother and son had crawled their way into California after numerous perils, found gold, and lived happily ever after.
I have always loved my happily ever afters. That has not changed. But, after a couple of decades, I have learned how to write with a little more detail and make sure that my characters have some fun in between their struggles.
When I'm not writing, I love to travel. The picture on the web page background is a little alley I came across while on Burano Island, Italy last year. I live in Virginia with an husband, two teenagers, and a sassy dog named Belle.
